I spend a lot of time looking at the sky. I’m a daydreamer, and never more so than in the summer. Wherever you are, the sky is a backdrop under which adventures unfold, but sometimes they can be the star of the show. You could call it a sort of sky safari…
Dream like mornings. Amethyst, orchid and lake blue. Jets pierce peach skies. Lone bike on the hill. White bulls graze in the mist. Blue spreads, uninterrupted. Bird of prey rides the thermals. Burnished wheat fields, warm breeze, perfume of wildflowers, sailboats flying across the water. Still afternoons, mares-tail clouds in a washed-out blue. Crickets chirp in long grass, laughter from the garden. Sunsets; indigo, orange, black silhouettes. Bats fly through grey light, like a photograph.
“I only deepen the wound of the world when I neglect to give thanks to the heavy perfume of wild roses and the song of crickets on summer’s humid nights.” Ann Voskamp
