The cow and I were staring at each other. The inevitable tractor had made me quickly pull my bike over, right up next to her. She eyed me curiously, probably wondering what my problem was. Behind her, a whole herd of chocolate-splodged dairy cows, contentedly grazing green pasture, and a sign advertising free-range milk.
So its end May. This time last year I was packing up in Aberdeen, having sucessfully completed my teacher training. Didn’t know then I’d be here, but that’s the way life goes, I guess. And now there’s a month left of the first year of teaching. Scary. I contemplated all this, on the long windy road from Schoorl (unpronouncable, don’t even try), back to Bergen. There were fields, woodland, milky white cows grazing. Thistle and violets grew rife through the meadows, Every now and then, a tumbledown stone cottage.
Butterflies danced around me, crickets chirped, frogs burbled from the streams. It was so Blyton-esque. The sun was hazy, the sky a greyish-blue, the breeze was warm. I stared out at the stretch of road ahead, it was a little way to go, behind, a lot more empty road. I guess its like this year.
I’ve made it to May.
So I’ve survived to the final half-term of the year… and a much needed week off (although with reports, extreme gardening and packing to do, its not technically r & r ). Wishing everyone a lovely weekend, whatever you’re up to xxx
Well done! Almost there!
Great photos as well.
thanks xx
Well done indeed, you should be proud of yourself, first teaching job, class of 28 kids, troublesome parents, you dealt with it all very well, love the photos.
thanks dad xx
It’s another milestone in your blogging. Cows are my favourite animals too. Pleasure to see the same passion in your chosen profession and also that we can share and discuss lots of similar episodes . Looking forward to spending more time during your summer holidays and reading more blogs.

Lovely photos. And, almost there 🙂
